212/1996/8/1-2 Moccasins

A beaded pair of moccasins made for a child. Northern or Central Plains but cultural provenance is unknown.

Collected by either Cecil Denny or Edgar Dewdney.

 212/1996/9/1-2 Moccasins

Hide moccasins with quill embroidery in traditional Siksika (Blackfoot) style. The red fabric used for the cuff decoration is known as trade cloth, imported European wool cloth which is traded by the Hudsons Bay Company.

43/2007 Feather decorated object

Great-horned owl feathers (Bubo virginianus) attached with cotton thread to a piece of commercially tanned hide. Originally considered African but was identified as being North American in recent years.

Possibly Blackfoot. Possibly collected by Cecil Denny or Edgar Dewdney.
